CORE v2.0 by AdamBurn CORE v2.0 by AdamBurn
UPDATE: changed the lights on the planet to make it look more spherical.

The largest of the alien mega structures, a huge artificial solar system powered by two suns . The entire thing was constructed to be a legacy to their civilization, everything they ever were, all their technology, all their culture and arts was placed within its giant data banks. It is a giant library of an entire race, and a symbol of their artistic abilities.
________________________________________________

So here is Core as it should have been before, There were many things I didn't like about the other version the main ones were the planet being to boring and those clouds. So I pimped the planet and removed the clouds around Core and replaced them with more flares and some dust rings.

Spent about 10-12 hours of extra work ontop of the weeks it took to make the original.

I think this version lives upto the expectations I had about it when coming up with the idea.

So enjoy this newer version, I hope you like.

It looks cool!
I was actually trying to figure out what it was on my own, then I read the description.
Thats a really imaginative and creative idea.

I think that maybe instead, or in addition to improving this. Make it at a different angle or close up, or experiment with different colors...
Just a few ideas ^.^

I did them by making a big black circle and using the line tools or the circle tool and stroke to make the lines and shapes, then sphearize it then add other layers on top alls et to screen or linear dodge and scribble with a very small eraser over one layer to make the blotchy effect

Well... I think I have to disagree with the majority of the people here. In my opinion this version is way better than the first one, the city lights do not fuck up the whole scene but make it look kind of mysterious, furthermore it's easier to imagine that those in fact very busy aliens have once lived there, compared to their huge data bank... I mean, there's no reason why they should ever leave their planet so dark^^

Everytime I look at this awesome picture, I notice a new detail I haven't seen before. And I love it :D

It's a stunning, just incredible amazing, definitely my favourite piece of all your beautiful works.

Will there be a download-pack of this, like the one you did of the former version? I used to have it on my desktop, but the deviation is too big for my screen now :(

Thanks mate, and yes there will be a wallpaper pack soonish. But the city lights did screw it up abit but since then I have changed them so they follow the curve of the planet better

you draw/render/create awesome epic pictures of ancient alien mega-astro structures.I was wondering if an actual alien species did leave behind one of these super advanced relics behind do you think they would have formulated a test for incoming visitors? because knowledge without wisdom is a very dangerous thing indeed.

It is indeed, and yes I did envision the structure to have certain defenses to determine if the visitors are worthy hehe

nice one, I thought it might have mechanisms to keep the 'younger' races away. I must say I like this second version of the core more than the other one.In the other version the brightness of the star(s) obsured the details of the structure. So well done, I look forward to your future pictures :D
