Not only Extreme Condition but also extreme hard work. And it paid off. The quality of this painting is simply awesome as well as the details are. That's one small step for a watcher, one giant leap for =Phoenix-06!! ( Featured by `taenaron )

Battles. Battles have raged across this world for as long as we can remember. From the minuscule and small to the cataclysmic and epic. From battles against viruses and germs to battles against each other, they are a constant part of both our culture and history. They appear in our movies, games and literature constantly painting vivid and powerful pictures. If there's one thing that I've learned from seeing and experiencing stuff like this, its the fact that the spectacle never ceases to captivate an audience when captured in the right way. Extreme Condition, created by Deviantart's own =Phoenix-06, is one of those shining examples of how the spectacle and astounding beauty of combat can be captured into an artistic form.

Lets begin with the first thing we see: the overall detail. The picture, is well, simply stunning. The curves, wrinkles and scratches on each and every individual surface, organic or otherwise looks amazing. The angle of which the picture is drawn and the image of the male figure firing upon his inhuman attacker truly gives the piece an excellent source of action and make it appear that much more dynamic. You can almost feel the tension of the encounter with each and every round that was fired on screen and the sense of dread that the soldier must feel with this grim situation.

The lighting also does an excellent job in the piece as well. From the flash and flickers brought on by flames and explosions, to the sparks emanating from the energy weapons that are being fired through the air, it all really builds on the atmosphere excellently.

This is a great example of how battles should be drawn out. With great emotional stress, dynamic encounters and excellent design style, Extreme Condition is a remarkable piece in every sense of the word. Excellent work Phoenix! :salute:

how do you do your fire explosions and lens flares?

Lens flares are a cross between brushes and gradient tool, fire is actually manipulated photos of fire, and explosions are brushes and some cloud photos. Hope that helps hehe
