Last Stand by AdamBurn Last Stand by AdamBurn
.......A system of alien worlds which were once lush green paradises until there star began to die. Increasing in size and emitting massive amounts of radiation these planets quickly died becoming nothing more than a scorched wasteland. In a disparate attempt to save there worlds and themselves, the inhabitants built huge habitat towers containing everything they needed to survive. As the situation worsened they built a huge energy shield around their more heavily populated world to protect the cities on its surface, the shield regulated the amount of radiation and heat that passed through its barrier. But despite all this they knew the only way they will survive in the long term is a massive exodus from the system as everyday their star becomes more and more unstable, however until then they watch out over the vista at the strangely beautiful sight they have created.........

Dude, how did you do this? This is amazing! And how long did it take you to do this?

Thats amazing, the towers look great. Wouldn't it be more practical against solar radiation to dig into the moon and use the crust as a shield though?

You remind me of the Necrontyrs. They were one of the earliest sentient races in the galaxy, older than even the ancient Eldar, appearing only a few million years after the birth of the stars. heir world was scourged by the radiation of the massive, violent star it closely orbited, cursing them to experience drastically short lifespans.

Yeah, necrons are Imbar. They are so powerful, too bad they have been nerved. The Warhammer 40000 storyline version of Necrons are really powerful.

well the ground terrain was done by :iconmcchaz: using a program called Vue, like terragen only a bit harder to use and it does more fancy things. The space area and the structures on the ground were my parts. glad you like

The sky looks cool, but the land throws it off imo. Nothing seems right perspective wise, and the lighting and contrast is off.

Sorry guys i'm not bashing the piece, it was a great idea and the sky looks cool. Good job.

the ground was done using a 3d terrain program so the perspective should be fine, as for the lighting and contrast maybe certain areas could need abit of a tweak but to say its all off is a bit harsh, i personally think the terrain contrast compliments the planet above and the sun very well

The perspective of the post work is what i mean. Terrain Gen or not, it just looks to tilted in certain areas. And the contrast looks like overlays which is fine as long as the lighting flows. I'm not flaming, I'm just pointing out some minor things that I see and trying to help.

i think the idea was on the terrain to create a very hot feel to it which is why certain areas of the ground textures are "glowing" it makes it look like semi-melted rock

Ahh, so I am not the only one who has thought about some advanced race building a "bubble" around their world. It leaves me to think how it would affect the weather, would be amazing if entire storm cells could still be kept undercover.

Was alsmot thinking of how much material would be needed to create the sheild, but then I realised it was pure energy lol.
