Just a quick concept I made for fun, messing with custom brushes, might extend this concept and make a full illustration, anyway its big ass power couplings that draw power directly from the sun and take it to......... what ever could possible need that much power.

Time: approx 1 hour
size: 3000x1Power my PC has used since I started making this image:........................... erm, too much.

Wow, so do those cables actually make their way INTO the Sun, in like, the surface? That's a pretty neat idea, dude. In all your pics featuring the Sun, I'm completely gratified at the way you make it appear so godly powerful, which in reality it sooooo is. An unimaginably gigantic fusion reactor with its only means of not blowing itself away being its just as immense gravity equalizing with the nuclear fusion.

"What ever could possible [sic] need that much power"? How about a stellar-system-wide civilization containing arcologies orbiting all of the planets out to the local Oort cloud? ^_^

Really, starlight (which is how a start outputs most of the energy) gets far too diffuse to be a useful power source once you get out to 5 AU [p.s. - 1 AU = distance from Earth to Sun]. So, getting all up-close to a star and concentrating its EM-output into a directional beam is really the only way to have solar power out to any point in a start system.

An even better idea would be combining the electromagnetic radiation with a plasma stream [and, being from a star, it'll be almost all hydrogen]. Then your "power beam" could/would be performing some nuclear fusion itself, generating some of its own power in the process.

im gonna vote for whormhole generator, hey it takes lots of energy to bend space and time

Maybe a supermassive interstellar city? It's fairly nice for a speedpaint, good concept. The sun flare looks cool too. ;p

Thanks, yeah it could be for a huge city in space hehe

No problem, haha. What about an artifical wormhole? That might actually take more energy however, considering the limits of this sun-draining technology.

Yeah you might need to harness the power of a black hole for that, but im sure there might be some complication with that idea

Indeed, though if you could harness the power of a black hole, you probably wouldn't need a wormhole, you'd probably be able to instantly materialise things at any designated point.
