I recommend hitting download for this one.
Its the pages for my final assessment at University, for first year anyway, its part of a book, each page showing a section of the sun.
Each image was created by using a series of photographs I took for the first part of the project of water balloons mid burst, capturing the water still in the balloons shape, took a while but I got some good ones.
It has been bound using Japanese stitch and has turned out rather well, I may upload some photos of the final book later on.
Enjoy

This is awesome. Great concept and execution. Do you do commissions? I looked in your journal and couldn't see any information about that.

It's water... but it looks just like the sun! What an ironic contrast! This is pure genius, to say any less wouldn't make honor to your work.

That is really awesome and creative!

Taking something as mundane as a water balloon and turning it into the sun. Thats a great use of contrasts aswell, with water contra fire.

Really great!Firstly, I thought these are some drawings, sketches; later - strange photos of sun. But it's balloon! Great "simulation"! Especially after last explosion at sun.

When I read how it was made, I started to see those bubbles which kinda destroyed the effect, but it's very unique view of the sun still.
Great job :)

Dear God, this is incredible. I'm especially fond of the second panel.

I can't imagine how difficult it must have been to get those shots... you must have a really great sense of timing.

Went through many balloons, and 2 different techniques, but once you've managed to time it right the first few times you get use to it

There's this add for the Shweppes brand fizzy-drinks that uses this method, it captures water-balloons bursting at an incredibly high frame rate and then slowed down incredibly, and it's amazing how the water still holds the shape of the balloon as the balloon itself is still seen peeling back (normally in real life it happens so fast it's like the balloon just "disappears") You should have filmed it like they did and just choosed the best frames, I can't image snapping at just the right second would be easy

It's very creative, I actually thought they were digital paintings from afar, celebrating the recent imagery and footage of the sun by that new satellite :sun: the 5th frame is my favourite, but the most above it look most sun-like :omg:

Thanks, capturing them wasn't all that hard, once you've done it a few times you get the timing just right. Filming it would have required a high speed camera, they cost a lot and I have no idea where to get them from haha
