Star Forge by AdamBurn Star Forge by AdamBurn
In the space between planets a huge Fusion reactor was built to satisfy the ever growing need for energy. It creates small stars which it gets energy from, this energy is then transmitted to every world in the system. The power is immense, as new stars are created using a form of laser fusion huge dust clouds swirl and ignite. When the energy form a star is depleted is shrinks and dies in a controlled and harmless way. A convoy of ships approach the station probably to offload supplies and personnel.

This is my entry to the new Luminarium Exhibit themed Energy, always wanted to make a huge machine that makes stars hehe.

This is just keeps bugging me, but wouldn't those "dwarf" stars generate their own gravity? If so, that fusion plant would be ripped to pieces due to the immense gravities of multiple generated stars.. :3

P.S. Awesome art!

If they could make scenery like this in movies,  a lot of people will be in awe.

Wonder if someone is writing  fan fiction if this or maybe even a book. Would  be good scene for an adventure story.

All in all, great art. Would be nice as a background for my pc.

I'd explain the star formation part as the intense laser energy focused on a single point of space-time causing it to curve and thus drawing the surrounding gas clouds in, then density increases up to the point of fusion to start.

I don't usually frequent DevientArt (no particular reason) but when I saw your work I had to make an account to make this comment. I'm into scifi in a big way, and I'm a huge space nerd (I'm currently on an astrophysics undergraduate degree). I've never seen art quite like yours; it embodies everything I find exciting about science fiction and the cosmos, and somehow you seem able to create a visceral feeling of grand scale and endless possibility that is very rare.

I guess what I'm trying to say is: Please don't stop doing what you're doing!

Reply
:iconadamburn:

Using both the smudge tool and the motion blur filter but you have to make it so the whole thing doesn't have a consistent blur or it looks odd, have to make the parts closer to the viewer more blurred than the bits further away
