Usually I try to do a New Years update closer to New Year but I was building up some news and waiting for a few things to become certain before I update on what I have planned and what could occur in within the next year, as well as reflecting on 2013.

First I was brutally close to getting a job with Sony's Guerilla Games Cambridge studio working on Killzone, did the art test and passed, had a fantastic interview and very positive feedback then unfortunately Sony pulled the plug on the studios current direction and so recruitment was halted which was a massive shame especially as they ended by saying I would have been perfect for the studio. Not the greatest start to the year but looking on the bright side I would have got the position had it not been canned and this is for Sony's headline studio so that's more than a little encouraging :)
Earlier in 2013 I also got far with an interview with CCP (EVE Online) But after waiting for almost 3 months, they have a very very long interview process, I was able to reflect on the idea of moving to Iceland permanently and whilst I'd love to visit I decided it's probably not the greatest place for me to move to especially taking into consideration my girlfriend as there is very little for her to do out there.

Despite a few close calls with going into full time studio work my freelance work has been going form strength to strength with some very cool projects in the works including a very innovative game the likes of which has never been done before, and a new collaboration with a games developer to create a gritty graphic novel for their game. Lots of cool new images to show off soon as these projects begin to come into the light.
Looking back at where I was this time last year in regards to commissions it's reassuring to see such a huge leap in volume of these projects I get to work on and thanks to that increase I was able to go full time freelance middle of last year which was an event that has been 8 years in the making, 8 years of hard work and having to fight people who insisted I was wasting my time, 2014 is shaping up to be one massive middle finger to said people :)

2013 saw Telikos Protocol enter it's first full year after issues 1's release at NYCC in October 2012, issue 2 was released in May and issue 3 was close to release end of 2013 but sadly we missed that deadline but we have learnt much about the process, re-thought the length of time it takes to complete each issue and stepped up our game for 2014. May this year will not only see issue 3 up for grabs but also Telikos Protocol's first complete volume containing issues 1 to 3 alongside lots of additional artwork, concepts, extras, and invitational artwork from some very gifted artists, all inside a glorious hardback book. We are looking forward to peoples reactions to that.

2014 will also see Telikos Protocol branch out as we have a group of fantastic people creating some cool pitch material ready to throw at various interested parties, not that issue 3 is pretty much complete and with issue 4's script finalised the true scope of the story and universe can begin to be seen and those that have been given the very detailed run down of events beginning to end have been blown away, we are really looking forward to seeing what becomes of these meetings.
2014 will also see issues 4-5 of Telikos Protocol which is where the story really beings to deepen, so far you have been treated to some ferocious battles and the all out chaos of the brutal alien strike, at the end of issue 3 things change dramatically and the aftermath of those events steers humanity onto a path that could tear the universe apart, things come to light that will challenge everything we thought we knew about our universe, life, and where we come from. It's going to get pretty epic... More so.

Alongside Telikos Protocol myself and Peter Cooper (writer of Telikos) will be giving some very very cool announcements later in the year that we hope will astound and delight anyone who likes sci-fi, comics, kickass artwork, and gripping story telling but I will have to wait to tell you more on that subject.

2014 is shaping up to be a very big year in relation to my work as a freelance artist and with regards to my joint IP Telikos Protocol, a lot is going to happen.
Keep an eye on the Telikos Protocol project page as new stuff is going up very soon, teasers, previews, and some cool news about the future of the IP.

Of course none of the above could have happened without the huge support you have all given me over the duration of my time here, Deviant Art was been the home of my art since I first began to mess around in Photoshop years ago, I can only hope to continue to impress you all :ahoy:

Shame to hear you stopped short of the end on the CCP recruitment process. My brother's been with CCP for many years now and Reykjavik is a wonderful city. Still, wish you the best of luck with your future prospects buddy.
