Just when I thought my anticipation for Mass Effect 3 was high enough something else had to come along and shove its huge metal flag into the summit of my brain thus filling me with overpowering, even crippling, anticipation for the game it represents... I speak of course about Halo 4. A new "First Look" trailer showing off some early in game stuff as well as sound effects and music and people talking about how awesome Halo 4 is (obviously, like you would hear the devs say its "ok").

A few things got me worried when Halo 4 was first announced, first that it's Halo 4 and not made by Bungie. Second is the COD effect in that COD games never change despite the locations and some additional multiplayer addons they never take the risk to re-haul everything, this is something I feared would happen to Halo 4 with 343 trying to prove themselves and basically following in Bungie's shadow not venturing out. BUT, and its a big but... hehe. They have not followed behind Bungie in fact they have taken Halo and ripped it apart and thrown it away and rebuilt it from the ground up, new graphics, new sound, new effects, new music, new multiplayer, new campaign, new direction, new features, new new new!

So after watching this short video I have had my doubts thoroughly seen to and destroyed, 343 are making Halo their own now that Bungie are gone so has the old Halo and after 10 years (11 once Halo 4 is out) they need a new fresh Halo out there to kick start the new trilogy and I have no doubt this game will be amazing.

The most awesome thing about that video was finding out there's someone in the world named Kiki Wolfkill, and that she makes games. The rest of the video was pretty darn awesome too. It's nice to know that they're really trying to make their mark, rather than just using all the assets from the previous game and basically rehashing everything, which would probably start to seem quite tempting when deadlines are looming. They're obviously people who are in the game design industry for the right reasons.

I'm feeling that they're going to take it back to the civil war and uprising that was happening at the start of the Halo: Reach story line. That, or something new entirely. They will be making a new breed of Spartan, the Spartan IV, but we don't know why yet. I can either foresee some sort of splinter faction manufacturing new Spartans, a new threat FIRST, then civil war after, or something else entirely.

You might be on to something since the latest book Glasslands I believe had indicated the Rebel colonies were producing Spartan's of their own which were considered "Spartan IV's".
